miss Fence.

started block II of practicum yesterday.
firstly, very glad to be out of kindergarten.
and now, onto second grade adventures.
the class is absolutely adorable and
i've secretly always wanted to teach
2nd grade, so this is like a dream come true.
i haven't met the real teacher yet, her mom
died on monday and she won't be back until tuesday.
today i officially introduced myself to the class.
they were having trouble pronouncing my last name
so i told them it rhymed with "fence" so they could
remember it better. they giggled and had no trouble
the rest of the day. the substitute teacher, on the
other hand called me "Miss Fence" the rest the day.
every time she talked to me i giggled, and so did the class.
she was pretty stern, i have yet to see her smile,
but one of the kids finally said, "it's ence, not fence."
she apologized. but, the next time she spoke to me,
she said, "Miss Nence." is ENCE really that hard to say?

i mean really.
