"hey gayle!"

today our ballroom teacher decided to hold
a tango competition... haa... so we danced!
josh and i rocked the dance floor... made it to the
semis then got eliminated.  it was good.
bridget was anxious about not being with conquest, which
made it funny to watch.  and chris deserved to win.
so josh and i were happy, as any sportsmanlike
competitor should be. when we first started the
tango i wasn't the biggest fan, but i really, really
like it now.  onto the waltz tuesday :)

heading to happy valley tomorrow.  ehhh.
i'm hoping i will hear something ridiculous that
i can add to the overheard at byu page!  woot.

at work today ali showed me this treasure.
pretty sure it made my day.  twice.
please let it make yours.

while the other half dreams.

conquest and bridget.  game over.  sorry ladies.

yesterday was totally eventful!  first, i must throw out there that
i do NOT do well with medical emergencies.  so, when i walked
into my business management class and a guy up front suddenly
collapsed and had a seizure, i wasn't doing so well.  and when i
was at work and the guy on the skateboard fell and hit his head
and went unconscious and the ambulance and the paramedic and
the police and the fire truck showed up i was a little shaky too.
there is definitely a reason why i'm not going into the medical field.

yesterday was one of those days when everything seems
to go wrong all at the same time.  one thing after another.
but one thing about life that's great is an awesome
front row of friends.  my dear allie called just to say hi,
kellen bought me animal crackers, chocolate, and
the cutest card just to say hope your day goes better,
and hearing annie's voice was the best part of the day.
at work, jake, stephanie, catherine, and our surprise visitor
gwen had a lovely time, and to make matters better,
it was chopin's 200th birthday, which meant free cake!

guitarra

oh just sittin' here being serenaded on guitar.
i could listen to guitar alll dayyyy.
forgot how much i missed this..... :)

2.20.2010

whatever you do, i'll do it too

last night was a pretty eventful night at work.  that i didn't enjoy.
some of the events of the evening:
- 50-year-old man talked to me for 30 minutes - fun but a little creepy
- heard life story of said 50-year-old man
- young man comes in from byu and spends the next
10 minutes making out with fiance right in front of my desk.
oops, did ya forget i was standing right there?!  honor code THAT.
- 7 small children running around the echo-y hall the whole
show because they were too young to go in.  no parentals.
- LOUD choirs backstage, sounded like elephants.  laughing
talking, screaming, playing guitar (who does that backstage)
- show was sold out, so naturally lots of angry people that come
2 minutes before 7:30 and spend the next 20 yelling at us for
not letting us in.  dude, come early next time... ?
- griffin called me, that was surely a surprise...

and now that i've complained to you about my day, let me tell
you some highlights.  some highs.  some happy things:
- got an e-mail from hannah.
- skyped hannah.
-texted annie pretty much all day.  <3 that girl!
- rented a unicycle for our excursions tomorrow.
- set up lunch date with griffin.
- e-mailed conquest about an upcoming event
- stalked kaylee some more, and brought heather in on the
action (best new hobby everrr)
- made german pancakes and they were divine!
- julie lamb called and we talked for well over an hour
- also talked to my mennifer jona, who i miss dearly!
- go big or go home meeting - our extreme sports event
is going to ROCK. just sayin'.
- started realizing the reality of this upcoming week and
got REALLY excited.  like, excited like i've never been before.
- plus, i was giddy all day for katie.  and in my opinion being
giddy for other people is the best kind of giddy :)

someday i'll be as cool as alex doxey.

i've never seen anything like it.  he did good :)

they made a statue of us

sweatin' to the oldies with richard simmons
this night was nothing short of fabulous.

that man and his videos are great.

then worked out with emily after.
came home and ate sugar cereal and
chocolate.  awesome.  have i mentioned my
eating habits have gone to pot.
it's no bueno.  just ask kiera...

i should be writing my lesson plan right now.
on jumping and landing.  thrilling, right?

lately i've been having this weird twitch thing
in my right pinky toe and ring finger(?) toes.
it's weird.  do toes have names?

is it possible for your contacts to freeze to your eyeballs?

is it pathetic that at 34 degrees we sit outside to do our
homework because it's a "nice" day?  only in logan.

are there any girls that go to the gym to NOT pick up guys?

most visited pages: overheard at byu and kaylee's fb page.
yes, i've become one of those creepy facebook stalkers.
and i feel great about it.  sorry, kaylee.  but not really.

happy valley extravaganza is in the making.
woot woot.

the guy that lives below me is singing right now and
i love that i can hear it.  oh sweet serenades.

i still wanna marry a cowboy.

to emily:

{ pretty sure the cutest guy came into the computer lab where i work this morning. he smiled big with his clear blue eyes and when i asked "how are you?" he flashed a pearly white to-the-side grin and said "i'm well, how bout yourself?" i asked if he wanted a computer and he said, "yes ma'am!" then a couple seconds later, "please..." another flashy smile. he was dressed like a cowboy, tucked in collar shirt, blonde hair neatly parted to one side, shiny belt buckle holding his wranglers up. i could picture him with a cowboy hat perched on a tractor out in the sunshine. he handed me his ID card and i could tell his hands were worn. hard working hands. it made me smile. after 20 minutes on the computer he got up, pushed his chair in, and walked past me out the door, with another smile, and a "thank you miss!" i couldn't help but beam when i said, "have a good one!" he stopped at the door, turned around and replied, "you have a good one as well." then he walked out of my life. have i ever told you how much i adore cowboys? it's going to be a good day. }

love sara.

mardi gras!

pictures are in.  observe:

fake tuesday.

today is fake tuesday.  we go to all our monday classes
and it's really throwing me off.  last night on the shuttle up to logan,
aimee and i had a lovely time.  for the whole ride one guy talked
on the phone in spanish (and i might add that his accent was
definitely gringo) then the lady we sat by started talking on
her phone in chinese, then the man in front of us a couple rows
started talking on his phone in some asian language too.  aimee
and i decided we were in earthquake haven - the back of the bus
was SO bumpy and noisy and it sounded like the back doors
were going to swing open any minute.  frightening, really.
but i converted david, the guy in front of us, to angels and
airwaves (mostly because their newest album is free - check
it out here) and even though he's a blatant freshman, his new
love of angels and airwaves earned him some brownie points.
our 3110 group got chastised today in the library for not finding
a room.  next time we decided we'll bring pizza and yell at each
other he he.  the extreme sports night we're planning is going to
be sickkk you should all come - march 29th!  through immense
facebook stalking of conquest and his lover i've determined at
the moment that he's un-dateable and nearly impossible, so i too
am going to take a seat on the bench for now.  my dad turned 53
last week.  triple holiday weekend was a success.  high: cabana
with allie, sunday dinner with the newlyweds and grandparents,
chocolate covered strawberries, and running errands with han,
as usual.  not-so-high: julia got hives :(  and hearing laci tell about
her fire hydrant food poisoning.  blehhh.  in other news, we're
down to single digits now... just 8 days out!!  and, i'm currently
eating a delicious chicken pot pie.  talked with jason brown
yesterday, and happy to report he's is normal again!  yaay.
and kimberly stoker is engaged.  add her to the long list...

i need some good april fools day jokes for the parentals... any ideas?

  happy fake tuesday!

miss sarah ann

one day we dressed up like colored zebras and played croquet.

one day they tied me to a tree then drew on me.

one day we went on valentines dates with inanimate boyfriends.

one day we wrapped ourselves in saran wrap.

one day (lots of days) we played dress ups.

one day we went to disneyland and braided our hair together.

one day we had our first chalking escapade.

miss you, miss sarah ann!

love weekend

theBorenDiaries are about to reach a whole new level
and i can't wait.  welcome aboard, laur!

congrats to annie anderson who got engaged on thursday,
sid alma thayne who proposed to his idaho woman today,
and miss jaquelyn riedel who'll be engaged by the end of tonight!
i'm expecting a call from katie leeflang soon as well.  [we'll see.]

i'm a pretty big sucker for cheesy, cliche things, so proposing on
valentines weekend?  big fan.  each week when bro jacobs
asks what exciting things happened during the week, there's
always one that got engaged.  this week i'm betting at least 6..
'tis the weekend of love, after all.  as for me?
pretty stoked about the triple holiday action.
valentines is great.  president's day is significant, and
celebrating my daddy's birthday as well!  the lovely
"music is for lovers" concert is on saturday and going
to be rockin'!  we are singing some great songs.
and aparty #5's girls' night tonight too :)

just two years ago today i went on my last date with michael g.
one year ago today i was with luke at the delta sig dance.
needless to say this weekend has pretty siginificant meaning,
and i'm glad to report this year it will be happier than in 2008.

i got a rose and two boxes of free pizza last night.
that was cool. and the ice cream date was nice.

sweet dreams.

remember what happened when you were little and you had a really bad dream?  mine were usually about spiders or fires.  (except that one time i dreamed about the evil fox in my front yard)  but, i'd wake up and sit still in bed, imagining spiders all around me trying to eat me or just crawling all over my floor.  when i got the courage, i would run into my parents room and curl up in their bed, sleeping the rest the night in peace.  there's something about having your parents right there that makes you feel better as a kid, right?

last night i had such a scary dream!!  i dreamed i was in the movie planet earth.  i was swimming around experiencing first-hand the ocean.  there was a narrator and all the sudden he started talking about sharks.  this family of sharks swam towards me and swim as i might i couldn't get away.  i tried hiding in the coral reefs and ledges of rock, but to no avail.  they snapped at me.  they wanted to eat me.  there was this ledge, kind of like in finding nemo, that once you went off the edge it just went down and down and you couldn't see the bottom.  i was teetering off the edge and felt like i was going to fall to my death if they kept snapping at me, that is, if they didn't eat me first :(  what was weirdest was i didn't have any scuba gear on and felt as if i was going to drown any minute.  i could see perfectly, but naturally i couldn't breathe and was panicking because of these sharks.  i cried for help but no one could hear me, not even the narrator.  the movie played on.

as a shark bit my foot, i flinched and was all the sudden in the dentist chair.  he stopped working and asked if it hurt.  i whined that i needed a new movie to watch, that planet earth was too scary after all.  he put in australia instead and went back to work on my teeth.  my mouth filled up with fluid and i couldn't breathe again.  i felt like i was drowning all over again and the music on my new movie was far too intense.  he finished the filling finally and i stood up, gasping for air.  he asked me to rinse and when i did, 3 of my teeth he'd been working on fell out.  then, the rest of them fell out.  (i dream about my teeth falling out a lot... apparently it's supposed to mean you're really anxious about things...?)  it was painful.  my whole mouth ached so badly.  clint threw me (literally threw me) back into the dentist chair and started work again immediately.  i fought it, but the whole dental staff was closing in on me.  pretty soon they blindfolded me and tied me to the chair so i wouldn't move.  i couldn't see.  i couldn't breathe.  i was in pain.

ya know how sometimes when you're sleeping, you get in this weird limbo state, like you know you're sleeping, but you're awake enough to know you're asleep?  (if that makes sense)  i find if i'm just conscious enough i can tell myself to wake up. luckily enough i was able to shake myself awake, then sat in bed shivering with fear.  i don't even know why, i swear it wasn't even that scary of a dream, but i was terrified.  glancing at the clock i realized i'd only been in bed for 20 minutes.  it was going to be a long night.  i could hear my roommates talking and laughing way too loud in the living room, and my mind kept wandering.  what if i really was drowning?  what if that crazy guy who's been robbing houses up here comes in ours tonight?  what if my roommates slept through it and i got kidnapped?  i'm really good at the worst-case-scenario game...even when it has nothing to do with sharks... haa.

the only logical thing i could think to do was call my mom.  so i did.  bless her heart she answered.  i told her what had happened and she calmed me right down.  i felt a little silly: here i am, a 20-year-old college student calling her mom in the middle of the night because she had a bad dream... who does that?  i do, ha ha... we talked for a bit and then she wished me sweet dreams (which she used to do every day of my life till i moved out) and told me she loved me.  she said she wished i could come curl up in bed with her, he he, and since my dad's in georgia it wouldn't have been weird, don't worry... but after i hung up with her i slept the best i have in a long time.  juvenile as it may sound, i miss my mom tucking me in every night and telling me "sweet dreams".  aren't moms great?!  i miss mine everyday!  :)

moonlight serenade

i am loving ballroom dance!  though i feel like one of the most uncoordinated girls in the class, it is probably one of my favorite classes i've ever taken.  friday at the dance, jamin and i did the cha cha and the tango and some country swing and the waltz (i'm in LOVE with the waltz!).  last night at the dance danny and i did the tango and the fox trot and i taught him the cha cha then john and i did the waltz and richard taught me how to do this east coast crazy three step dance that i never got down... haa... let me just say that dances have reached a whole new level of enjoyability now that i semi-know what i'm doing. . . can't wait to show my daddy what i've learned :)  i think this class has reminded me how much i utterly and completely love jazz music!  last night at the dance that's all they played and it was amazing.  reminds me of wedding band music, hah, but i could honestly listen to jazz for hours... and i do... jazz instrumental, jazz vocal, anything.
best. music. ever.

stripped away

"when you strip away everything, we are so similar"
this line from 19 minutes describes my feelings about
testimony meeting in church.  we are all split by differing
interests, personalities, struggles, talents, but we are bound
together by one thing - the gospel of jesus christ.  when you
take everything away, what is left is the conviction and the
testimony.  the love and the desire to do good.  i love fast
and testimony sunday because we get to hear from people
that are inspired to stand up and share what they know,
what they feel.  during the week sometimes i forget how
many people here are so similar.  when you strip away
everything, we are so similar.  but maybe if we look
hard enough, we don't have to strip it away, just look
past it.  i love the gospel of jesus christ!  it changes me.

vegetable shelf

the other night i was remembering vegetable shelves.  when i was little, i didn't like vegetables, like most children, right, and when i would tell my mom i was too full to finish my vegetables, she would say with a fake disappointed look that if i was too full for vegetables i must be too full for dessert too.  my quick reply would always be "but my dessert shelf isn't full, just my vegetable shelf!"  i think there was a time when i actually thought my ribs were my shelves, storing food neatly in a row and when one was full, there was no debate, it was full.  some days i get really bummed out that we lose our imaginations as we grow up.
i want to keep mine forEVER!

not a big deal.

so there's this guy that's been coming into work a lot lately to take tests and study for tests.  he's one of those types that is pretty anxious about testing and wants to do really well on them... and also he's really beautiful.  he came in today to study.  i may or may not have looked him up on facebook (i'm really good at facebook stalking, don't worry) and found out he's married (figures).  he printed something off, and when i went to give him his ID card back, he dropped it because i let go too soon.  so, naturally, i went to slide the card toward him.  he went to grab that card at the same time and our fingers went between each others for a minute.  i went bright red and felt REALLY awkward.  i said sorry and he said no worries bye.  ha ha ha ha ha.  i can't stop laughing about it.  not a big deal, but i was totally embarrassed.
who tries to hold hands with married men, i mean honestly.

barefoot. is. better.

i love to be barefoot.  if i could, i would walk around barefoot all the time.  yes, even in winter.  but i like my feet too much to freeze them off like that, he he.  talking to my dear katie yesterday, she reminded me about barefoot days.  in high school we used to think we were so cool and we've have barefoot days at school.  that's right, we wouldn't wear shoes to school.  people thought we were gross when we'd walk in the public restroom with no shoes or outside on the pavement, but i miss those days!  one day at usu i read they were having a barefoot for africa day.  i was excited, but not many people participated.  it was lame.  i miss high school sometimes.  mostly the closeness of high school.  and people that didn't care what people thought of them when they walked around all day barefoot.  i can't wait for this wretched snow to melt so i can be barefoot again!  after all, barefoot is better.
